IFOAM - Organics International has been leading, uniting and assisting the organic movement since 1972. As the only global organic umbrella organization, IFOAM - Organics International is committed to advocating organic agriculture as a viable solution for many of the world's pressing problems. With 815 affiliates in over 120 countries, IFOAM - Organics International campaigns for greater uptake of organic agriculture by proving its effectiveness in nourishing the world, preserving biodiversity, and fighting climate change. IFOAM - Organics International also offers training courses, provides services to standard owners, certifiers, operators, and realises organic programs.

The mission of Kamut International and Kamut Enterprises of Europe is to promote organic agriculture and support organic farmers, to increase diversity of crops and diets and to protect the heritage of a high quality, delicious ancient grain for the benefit of this and future generations. In 1990, “KAMUT" was registered as a trademark by the Quinn family in order to support organic farming and preserve an ancient wheat variety, khorasan. Under the KAMUT® brand, khorasan wheat must always be grown organically, never be hybridized or modified, and meet high standards for purity and nutrition.

The origins of the University of Bologna go way back, and it is considered to be the oldest university in the Western world. Its history is intertwined with that of the great names of science and literature, it is a keystone and a point of reference for European culture.

The Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences of the University of Bologna was founded in 2012 through the merge of nine scientific bodies of the Faculty of Agriculture: the Department of Agronomy, the Department of Agronomy the Institute of Plant Pathology, the Institute of Agricultural Chemistry, the Institute of Agricultural Microbiology and the Institute of Entomology. The department is one of the largest departments of the University of Bologna, in budget and staff.
